Frequency Music is an independent record label and creative imprint dedicated to fuelling artistry and building sustainable music projects. By translating music into impactful visual campaigns and connecting groundbreaking artists with a global fanbase, Frequency prioritises quality over quantity. As a genre-transcending label, they collaborate with unique talent to ensure creative visions are realized and shared with listeners worldwide.

The company consists of two main departments: Frequency, an artist-focused independent label, and Frequency Digital, an innovative platform for artists, labels, and other rights holders to manage their data, musical rights, and revenue.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Product Manager role at record label Frequency is both creative, diverse as well as administrative and organisational. Within our small and passionate imprint based in Amsterdam, you will help nurture and grow musical projects that characterise themselves by high-quality output and unique campaigns. As Product Manager you will be responsible for the coordination, uploading, distribution process and data management of the releases and artists we work with. Together with our music team, you will be involved in the label’s various release plans, (online) marketing activities and potential events. As an organised, passionate and forward-thinking person, you notice the details others tend to miss and get excited about the prospect of international development of young artists. You don’t mind perfecting an Excel sheet and are always looking for ways to improve the efficiency of the flow. Next to this, you will be the main point of contact for our artist teams as well as our label partners like DSPs, distributors, radio and publishing contacts.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the upload process and system administration. Keeping the overview.
  • Accurately designing, uploading and maintaining assets, metadata and documentation. 
  • Coordinating timelines, assets and campaigns and therefore direct communication with the artists and managers throughout the process. 
  • Analyzing performance data and audience insights to optimise release strategies.
  • Keeping track of assets, the release checklist and product deadlines.
  • Clearly communicating results and recommendations to artists to support their growth across platforms.
  • Promoting single, EP or album releases together with the label team.
  • Co-responsible for scouting and linking up with relevant music artists and relations.

DESIRABLE TRAITS & SKILLS

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a label, distributor or music startup environment. 
  • Understanding of release processes, distribution and digital music platforms. 
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical skills and an ability to organize and analyze data.
  • Good communication skills, including clear and professional interaction with artists and internal teams. 
  • Ability to keep timelines on track. 
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

NICE TO HAVE

  • A relevant degree and work experience in the creative field. 
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g. Spotify for Artists, Chartmetric, or similar).
  • Basic marketing knowledge, including social media and campaign strategy and understanding of artist branding and storytelling. 
  • Existing network within the music industry (artists, managers, producers). 
  • Affinity with our current artists and cultural positioning.
  • Affinity with marketing trends and relevant music acts. Therefore ability to discover and scout new artists (A&R-ing).
