Frequency Music is an independent record label and creative imprint dedicated to fuelling artistry and building sustainable music projects. By translating music into impactful visual campaigns and connecting groundbreaking artists with a global fanbase, Frequency prioritizes quality over quantity. As a genre-transcending label, they collaborate with unique talent to ensure creative visions are realized and shared with listeners worldwide.

The company consists of two main departments: Frequency, an artist-focused independent label, and Frequency Digital, an innovative platform for artists, labels, and other rights holders to manage their data, musical rights, and revenue.

What if you could combine your sales and research skills with a love for music, concerts and festivals? At record label Frequency we’re looking for an A&R Scout.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As our A&R Scout, you’ll be responsible for finding new artists and driving the creative and commercial direction of our roster. We’re looking for a salesperson with research skills, someone who thinks in creative solutions and finds the gaps in the music market. Anticipating trends rather than just following them, while staying aligned with Frequency’s quality-over-quantity approach.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scouting and outbound prospecting with a strong lead focus will be a major focus of your role, identifying emerging artists (Spotify, TikTok, YouTube, live shows) and relation opportunities globally.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, market shifts and cultural movements to spot opportunities for Frequency’s artist roster.
  • Manage and optimize the scouting process by continuously following up with prospects and ensuring connection throughout the A&R pipeline.
  • Engage with potential artists to understand their needs and present Frequency’s ideas and solutions to enhance release strategy.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Frequency label’s vision and leverage this in artist conversations.
  • Collaborate closely with the team but operate independently to drive your own results.

DESIRABLE TRAITS & SKILLS

  • You have 1-2 years of experience in A&R and/or sales.
  • You have a sales mentality: proactive, persuasive, and not afraid of rejection
  • You have a good ear for music and an intuitive feel for what resonates
  • You’re highly innovative and creative, weekly bringing fresh ideas to the table
  • You’re obsessed with music, culture and trends and you’re ahead of them
  • You’re analytical and constantly researching competitors and the market
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

NICE TO HAVE

  • A relevant degree and work experience in the creative field.
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g. Spotify for Artists, Chartmetric, or similar).
  • Basic marketing knowledge, including social media and campaign strategy and understanding of artist branding and storytelling.
  • Existing network within the music industry (artists, managers, producers).
