KLABU
KLABU is building the world’s biggest club. Powering sports for young athletes in refugee camps and beyond with KLABU clubhouses.
Wij zoeken een Storytelling Lead voor KLABU!
KLABU, meaning “club” in Swahili, builds sports clubs in refugee camps where young people can find joy, pride and hope through sports and community. The organisation’s goal is to build the world’s biggest sports club and change the playing field for refugees. KLABU is looking for a Storytelling Lead to lead the Storytelling Team and shape how its mission is communicated to the world.
About the job
Since KLABU’s founding in 2019, storytelling has been an essential part of the organisation’s identity. It helps build bridges between KLABU’s sports clubs and the rest of the world, while reframing perspectives on refugees by highlighting their talent and potential.
Over the years, KLABU has collaborated with strong creative partners and gradually built a small but ambitious storytelling team, including creators within the communities it works with. The organisation is now looking for a leader who can bring these elements together.
The Storytelling Lead will work closely with KLABU’s Brand Creative Director and join the Strategy Team, contributing to the organisation’s overall direction and growth.

They will oversee KLABU’s storytelling across all channels, both ongoing and campaign-based.
Responsibilities include:
- Owning KLABU’s storytelling strategy across campaigns, content, media and brand partnerships
- Leading, managing and developing the Storytelling Team, currently consisting of two brand managers, a visual storyteller & mentor and a social media intern
- Collaborating directly with content creators across KLABU clubhouses to ensure stories are captured authentically
- Working closely with the Brand Creative Director to ensure strong design alignment
- Overseeing the development and execution of campaigns, collaborations and activations
- Building and maintaining relationships with media, creative partners, agencies and press
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen KLABU’s brand, reach and fundraising
- Ensuring consistency, quality and impact across all communications
- Managing the team’s budget and resources
- Contributing to organisational strategy, planning and growth decisions
