Mijksenaar is looking for new wayfinding designers! On Thursday May 12 we will be hosting our ninth Job Day. On this day, we invite promising candidates to show their best side. Are you graduating in September? We are also interested in you! Mijksenaar is a design and consultancy agency specialized in wayfinding. In our studio along the Amsterdam canals, our international team analyzes and designs solutions for a large and varying audience. For example, we help travelers find their way in major international airports, we guide tourists and residents through the most beautiful streets of a city and we let children determine their way in the zoo around the corner. With offices in Amsterdam and New York, we are active in the Netherlands and abroad with about 35 Mijksies. Our wide variety of clients requires unique and specialized solutions that can be graphic, spatial and digital.
About the job
As a wayfinding designer you’ll be working on national and international wayfinding projects, were you’ll be involved in research and analysis, develop strategies and then translate this into designs. You’ll use a multidisciplinary design approach and solutions may range from graphic, spatial, or digital design. Job day The day starts with an assessment, during which we present you a number of Mijksenaar cases. This gives us insight into your graphic, spatial, analytical and other skills. In the following rounds you will have interviews with designers and project leaders. During the interviews we have the opportunity to dive a little deeper into the cases and see if there is a click. Finally, you’ll speak with someone from the management team. After each round, a number of candidates are eliminated and if you make it to the end you will have the opportunity of being the newest Mijksie! The Job day takes place at our office in Amsterdam, so between the rounds you have the chance to get a taste of the atmosphere and chat with your possible future colleagues.

Our ideal candidate:
- Would like to develop further in our expertise and has the drive to work and learn in a multidisciplinary wayfinding organization.
- Has a completed (or is on track to graduate with) a relevant Bachelor or Master degree in graphic design, industrial design, service design, information design, UI/UX design or comparable field.
- And has a maximum of 5 years work experience.
- Is creative, analytical and has a curious mindset.
- Has an eye for detail, but can also keep a good overview.
- Thorough knowledge of Adobe CC and/or relevant 3D visualization and design software.
- Speaks and writes flawless Dutch and English.
- Lives in the Netherlands.
