In our studio in Amsterdam we work with 40 people of more than ten nationalities on the development and production of artworks and installations that are sold and exhibited all over the world. Since each project requires unique skills and knowledge we collaborate with a wide array of external professionals while doing all custom development and production in house. DRIFT, founded by Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta, is a dynamic art studio that develops site specific often kinetic installations that incorporate state-of-the-art technologies. DRIFT focuses on the dialogue between seeming contradictions between nature and technology. Nature is a leading source of inspiration, where the creative process is fueled by innovation and technology. Our studio is internationally oriented and is located in the top segment of the international art and design world.

About the job

As DRIFT’s Director of Future Projects, you’ll lead DRIFT’s rapidly growing profile and portfolio of projects globally. The Future Projects Director is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow the company in a financial and branding capacity. You work on motivating, inspiring and leading the future projects team, to meet the targets. You utilise your extensive network to seek out and convert new opportunities. Furthermore, you manage risks around all incoming projects and keep track of the contracting and finance of the sales process. You are part of the leadership and sit in the Management team and you'll report directly to the Managing Director and the artists. The ideal candidate will already have experience on a senior or Director level and be an outstanding communicator and negotiator with strong strategic decision-making skills and the ability to nimbly weigh business goals alongside creative ambitions. You will work closely with the artists to develop the sales strategy to ensure that DRIFT continues to thrive and produce ambitious new art. There will be ample opportunity in this role to hone one’s management and leadership skills in a high energy and inspiring environment.

  • Extensive acumen across business and cultural sector

  • Client focused - Prospecting, pitching and closing sales deals
  • Excellent team management skills
  • Experience in coordinating multiple senior stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
  • Extensive network in the international art world, good networker
  • Adobe skills!
  • Extensive at least 10 years work experience in a similar position
  • Connector, peoples person, charming, personality
  • Intelligent, analytic, keeping the overview, warm team leader
  • Great when it comes to budgeting (calculations & Approvals)
  • Responsible for all future projects, studio strategy
  • Willing to travel
  • Becoming the face of Studio Drift in the international art world. (alongside the artists)
