We also have something important in common (other than our very well-worn passports): We want to change the way people travel. And that's exactly what we're doing, with the travel app to plan, track, and remember trips in a smart and beautiful way. Polarsteps has over 8 million users already, but, for us, this is just the start. Your expedition: People & Ops at Polarsteps We’re a small team, doing big things. 💡 We are searching for a People & Operations Specialist to join our team! This is an opportunity to join us, covering for our colleague Lou, who is going on a sabbatical to travel the world! There might be more permanent opportunities as we continue our growth. Ideal start date: mid-March 2024!
We want to be the very best tech scale-up to work for in the Netherlands (if not the world!). That means creating and maintaining a happy team. At the end of the day, the basis of any successful company is the team behind it, and looking after ours is a priority. As a People & Operations specialist, you will be at the forefront of this very important goal — making a difference on an operational, organizational, and human level.
Your itinerary:
What your journey at Polarsteps will look like day-to-day.
- Ensure that our lovely office in the center of Amsterdam is a comfortable and welcoming working environment for our team, coordinating with external parties for services such as maintenance, catering, supplies, and cleaning.
- Make sure that the team has everything they need to do their job as best they can — from laptops to a kick-ass work-from-home set-up.
- Be the keeper of our social diary! Coming up with fun and quirky ideas for our monthly Polarbeers, quarterly team days, company trips, and other spontaneous events.
- Use your eye for detail to make sure that our day-to-day HR and financial processes run smoothly.
- Make sure our new colleagues feel welcome by coordinating a kind and clear onboarding (sometimes relocation) process.
- Maintain a supportive environment by paying close attention to employee wellbeing and happiness, and genuinely caring for our colleagues.
- Support our Head of People & Operations with daily HR operations and projects.

What we’re hoping you’ll bring with you.
- 1-3 years of experience in the People/HR team of a fast-growing scale-up.
- A good understanding of HR topics and regulations.
- Organizational talent — whether it is adding structure to our HR processes or organizing our next company party.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A positive, solution-oriented, getting-things-done mindset.
- An interest in people with a kind and compassionate nature.
Bonus points for:
- Proficiency in spoken and written Dutch.
