Wij zijn Bon Ton Toys- de duurzame plush makers uit Amsterdam. Wij bestaan sinds 1933 en zijn nog altijd volop in ontwikkeling met ons eigen merk B.T. Chaps. Daarnaast hebben wij de internationale licentie voor WWF plush en de welbekende Bon Ton Toys Nijntje en hebben wij net een start gemaakt met Bon Ton Toys Peanuts [Snoopy]. Bon Ton Toys is a leading sustainable plush toy manufacturer from Amsterdam, specializing in high-quality plush toys since 1933. They champion environmental sustainability and ethical production practices because, when it comes to our children, only the best is good enough!
As a B Corp certified company, they believe their toys should bring joy to children while positively impacting the global community and environment. Alongside their own brand, Bon Ton Toys (www.bontontoys.com), they create plush toys for WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and three international licenses: Miffy (nijntje), Smiley and Peanuts (Snoopy).
They develop, produce, and distribute to the premium segment in over 50 countries, both domestically and in duty-free markets. Following the Global Recycling Standard, Bon Ton Toys uses 100% recycled filling, and all partnering factories are certified under the ethical supply chain program ICTI.
About the job
Are you driven by sustainability, compliance, and impact? Bon Ton Toys is looking for a Sustainability & Compliance Intern (32–40 hours per week) to support our sustainability team during the verification phase of our B Corp recertification and the execution of our sustainability strategy.
By the time you join, we will have just submitted our B Corp recertification assessment, so a large part of your role will involve supporting the verification process, including helping us gather and provide any outstanding evidence requested after review. You will also contribute to our strategic sustainability priorities, such as gathering data for ROOT, our online software tool for impact calculations, a new version of our Sustainability Impact Report, and other topics on our sustainability roadmap. As we are a relatively small team, you will be given real responsibility and meaningful, hands-on experience. The internship runs for +/- 20 weeks (negotiable), starting March 2nd 2027, with 4-5 working days per week, of which 2–3 days are office-based at our headquarters in Amsterdam.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the verification phase of our B Corp recertification, including preparing and submitting outstanding evidence upon request.
- Contributing to strategic sustainability projects on our roadmap, such as a new version of our Sustainability Impact Report and similar topics.
- Conducting the assessment of ECGT requirements and evaluating company alignment with applicable sustainability laws and regulations.
- Identifying gaps between current practices, legal requirements, and voluntary standards, and helping propose improvement actions.
- Collecting, structuring, and validating sustainability data from internal teams and external suppliers.
- Uploading sustainable data in ROOT Sustainability and analyse impact.
- Contributing to the drafting and review of sustainability-related documentation and reporting.
- Collaborating with different departments to ensure consistent and accurate sustainability information.
- Supporting internal awareness through workshops, training sessions, or internal communications on sustainability and compliance topics.
Dit is wie je bent
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Law, or a related field.
- Strong command of English (written and spoken); Dutch is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Interest in sustainability regulation, corporate responsibility, and compliance.
- Proactive, structured, and comfortable working independently.
- Able to work with complex requirements and translate them into practical actions.
- Interest in digital tools, data analysis, and AI (e.g. ChatGPT) is an advantage.
