Fonda is a café and bar at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Fonda presents two distinct locations within the museum where visitors may pause and relax while staying connected to the museum’s creative energy.
Fonda Bar is open to the public in the museum's entrance hall. The bar’s menu features daily baked goods made in-house, La Cabra coffee, Japanese teas, and refreshing soft drinks. Fonda Café, located on the first floor, is exclusively for museum ticket holders. The café’s menu celebrates homestyle cooking with a refined twist. The simple, comforting dishes are made with seasonal ingredients and surprising elegant elements.
Fonda comes from the same team behind Oficina, a canteen and food design studio based in Amsterdam. The team combines a love for food with thoughtful design to create spaces where community and quality are at the forefront.
About the job
- Dial in our espresso machine and grinder daily in order to deliver a high-quality product.
- Prepare and serve various coffee, tea and cold beverages, consistently meeting high-quality standards.
- Interact with customers friendly and engagingly, take orders accurately, and provide recommendations based on individual preferences.
- Ensure the coffee preparation area is clean and organised, and adheres to hygiene and safety standards. Regularly clean coffee equipment and utensils.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of coffee beans, ensuring freshness and flavour consistency. Conduct regular checks on brewing equipment.
- Work efficiently during peak hours to manage multiple orders, ensuring prompt and accurate service without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with other team members, including kitchen staff and servers, to maintain a smooth workflow and contribute to a positive working environment.
- Process customer payments accurately and efficiently, providing receipts and maintaining a secure cash handling process.
Dit is wie je bent
- 2+ years of barista industry experience.
- Experience working in cafes, restaurants, or other hospitality environments.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee varieties, brewing methods, and flavour profiles.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Ability to pour latte art.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to read and speak Dutch and English preferred.
- Experience with light-roast coffee is preferred but not required.
